You are more beautiful than you think …

It's been one of those weeks. It's Thursday and I have no idea where the time has gone. There have been some up's and down's and on various occasions throughout the week I have been reminded several times of a video that went viral recently. In case you didn't see this Dove Real Beauty Sketch, I hope you will take 7 minutes to sit down and watch it. We are way too hard on ourselves especially in a world that perceives beauty as important. We all want to feel beautiful and wanted. Sadly, we place far too much on this whole beauty thing and let it affect how we feel about ourselves.

What is beauty? I don’t want to sound like a broken record about how the media has shaped our ideals and how we feel as women. However, media and reality TV has had a direct impact on the way that young women grow up idolizing a false sense of what beautiful is. We are in a world that is obsessed with celebrity-ism and without us even realizing it, we feel not good enough, not pretty enough, not rich enough, bla bla bla.

I do know this, as a new mom I have a big task ahead. Make my daughter feel adequate and good enough no matter how the rest of the world might make her feel. As parents we help to influence our children's relationship with their bodies, food, exercise and develop their self-worth.  I believe that true beauty and happiness lies in satisfying relationships, laughter, good food, memorable experiences, giving and receiving true love, health, travel and finding success on your own terms.

After watching this video I wondered, how do we make our children believe that they are magical, and good enough even when we may not always believe that we are?!? Self acceptance is what matters and it is essential that we accept who we are right now, where we are in our lives and know that we are good enough, no matter what we have ever been told or made to believe!

For those days when you feel a little in the dumps, daily affirmations are a powerful tool to change your thought pattern and the way that you feel. A lot is to be learned from this amazing little girl...

Your challenge is to watch these video's then take a few minutes to sit there and really let it sink in. How do you view yourself? Are you being too hard on yourself? What are some of the most gorgeous parts that you can offer the world - not just your external appearance. And yes, you can have more than one!!!!

Believe me, YOU ARE PERFECT JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.

There is only one YOU that this world has been gifted so use your most unique talents and gifts to change the world in whatever way you can.

True beauty is felt by those around you, not just noticed when you walk into a room. LOVE yourself more. Become a beautiful mentor for any younger women in your life – especially your daughters. I want you to know that you are good enough and perfect right now in this moment.
