energy boosting tips for a #girlboss like you

Low energy got you down my friend?

I get it. I have had moments on my mom-journey when my energy levels have been, well let's just say, less than ideal.

Nobody wants to go through life dragging their feet or feeling like they lack the energy to keep up with family and friends. So here is what I propose.  

Instead of reaching for your 4th coffee of the day, here are 5 energy boosting tips to allow you to own your health journey like a boss. 

  • Drink more water. Dehydration leads to fatigue. If you are feeling down and your energy feels low take a mental note of how much pure, filtered water you have consumed. Likely not enough. Grab a big glass and sip, better yet, always carry your water with you throughout the day to avoid this from happening in the first place. Add some lemon, lime, ginger, fresh mint, berries to amp it up a bit and I love a drop of Peppermint, Grapefruit and Lemon essential oils too!

 

  • CONSISTENT quality meals + snacks. I want your hunger cues to guide when you eat, but if you don’t have regular meals and snacks how the heck can you expect to have energy through the roof? Not possible. Healthy meals and snacks that contain protein, healthy fats and other vital nutrients are necessary for a thriving body and brain. Quality over quantity. Eat when hungry but make sure you have something in the AM to break-the-fast, slow down and chew your food and practice gratitude for the food that ends up on your plate. Stabilize blood sugar levels to keep your energy levels in check. Enough said. 

 

  • Mindful movement. Walk, run, bike, swim, workout, yoga…whatever your movement of choice, just do it. The serotonin your body releases feels sooooo good and you need it for a healthy and happy functioning body and mind.  Your soul needs it and your energy levels will improve when you make movement happen.

 

  • Deep Breathing. Don't overlook the power of breath. When you are mid-day and feel like you are less than vibrant take a peek at how you are breathing. Are they short, shallow breaths that are high in your chest? Your body and brain NEED oxygen. If I need a pick-me up I like to get up and change the task I am currently doing to switch my mental and physical focus. And a good 5 rounds of a sun salutation or other energetic yoga poses do the trick too. Focus on breathing and I promise you will feel more energized after.
