refreshing green smoothie

It is hot hot hot in southwestern ontario - holy moly!

It has felt closer to 40 degrees (celsius) the last couple of days with the humidity. Thank goodness for air conditioning and a pool to float in.

I hope you are staying cool by drinking lots of water and eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies. 

This blended drink was oh-so-necessary yesterday for a super refreshing breakfast.

Add the following ingredients to a blender and enjoy.

  • coconut water
  • big handful of kale
  • 1/2 cucumber (large)
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • ice cubes (optional - but so necessary on a hot day!)
  • 2 tbsp. aloe vera juice
  • 2 tbsp. hemp seeds

I am 39 weeks today - yikes. I made it through the wedding festivities this past weekend in Muskoka without any dramatic events taking place.

For anyone who has been in Muskoka, you know just how gorgeous and peaceful it is. Cottage living for a few days was so relaxing and the wedding festivities were a blast! Almost everyone had to travel in for the big day so it was so great to spend some quality time with some of my favourite peeps.

The ceremony took place at a very small church in Bala and the reception (party) continued at The Kee.

It is an amazing venue - and if you are familiar with it you have probably experienced a couple of wicked concerts there.

We had a convoy of old beauties that drove the wedding party around and my husband gladly drove his baby around.

Congrats to the bride and groom - it was such a great weekend!

So we got through the weekend without our sweet baby making his/her arrival and had a midwife appointment on Monday.

All is still looking great and she gave me a few natural remedies that can help to promote labour.

I really want this baby to make it's entrance to the world when they are ready - BUT I'm still trying to help the process out a bit.

I have been doing my part the last couple of days drinking red raspberry leaf tea, eating pineapple (hence the smoothie...) and spicy food, using evening primrose oil and taking long walks.

I guess only time will tell if these work :)
