TURMERIC LOVE + TURMERIC TEA LATTE RECIPE INSPIRATION

I want you to elevate your health game with the simple addition of a gorgeous yellow spice, turmeric.

There are a lot of great reasons why turmeric is all the rage right now. But amazingly enough, this spice has been around for thousands of years. 

Some of the known benefits of including more turmeric into your life are: ability to reduce inflammation (think less aches and pains, clear skin, less bloating…) , improve digestion, reduce risk of cancer, high levels of antioxidants and so much more. Totally a win-win. 

It is even suggested that instead of reaching for many common over the counter medications such as ibuprofen for pain you should instead reach for Turmeric! There is even research being done on turmerics roll in cancer prevention

Here are a few ways to incorporate this incredibly healing herb it into your everyday:

  • Sprinkle onto anything and most everything like eggs, roasted vegetables, soups, stews, stir-frys, grain based salads, add to rice, oatmeal bowls and even homemade pizza.
  • Season your meat. 
  • ½ a TSP to your smoothies with some cinnamon is great.
  • Add to homemade salad dressings and other condiments like hummus. 

But hands down my current favourite way to enjoy the many benefits is TURMERIC TEA LATTE. It is a part of my PM wind-down a few times a week and is an epic way to show my bod some serious lovin’. Here’s the how-to.

Ingredients:

  •  1 cup dairy free milk {I love coconut or almond}
  • 1 TSP fresh grated turmeric or quality turmeric powder
  • 1 TSP fresh grated ginger
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Dash of fresh cracked black pepper {helps the body to take advantage of the healing properties of the turmeric}
  • 1 TSP raw honey
  • 1 TBSP coconut oil

Method:

  1. Warm your milk on the stove.
  2. Once warmed I add in the rest of the ingredients and then blend with a hand immersion blender. You can add it to a blender too. This is the magic step that combines everything into the most delicious, warm and healing latte-type beverage!

Turmeric is also a powerful addition when you feel that you are coming down with the sickies! 

So how much should you have? If you could aim to add a TSP of turmeric into your everyday your body will reap the many rewards that this spice holds. Depending on specific health challenges you can even purchase turmeric in capsule form which I have done in the past with my husband when he is battling injury and inflammation problems. Of course, speak with a health practitioner first.
